Judy Refuerzo
Judy was not always a yoga teacher; she used to work in the semiconductor industry managing operations for factories in the Far East.  She started doing Bikram yoga to relieve stress and stay in shape.  She was on a business trip 9/11/2011 and that is when it hit home that life is short and you really need to do what you love, so she quit her job to follow her passion.  She knew she loved Bikram yoga but felt a need to explore the wide range of yoga options.  In 2003 she enrolled and completed a Yoga Alliance 200 hour teachers certification from the Carmel Yoga Center.  It was a great introduction to the many styles of yoga and outstanding teachers:  Kofi Busia, Rama Jyoti Vernon and Judith Lasater.  Judy still felt a strong connection with Bikram yoga, so in January of 2004 Judy moved to LA for 9 weeks to study with Bikram Choudhury and received her 500 hour Bikram certification. She began teaching yoga full time in 2004. Although Judy loves Bikram yoga she continues to enjoy other styles and has been lucky enough to study with many of the great teachers: T.K.V. Desikachar, Dharma Mittra, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Sharon Gannon, Tias Little and Paul Grilley.

Judy and her husband David and 2 Spinone Italiano dogs moved to Carmel full time in 2009. Judy feels extremely blessed to do what she loves, which is to share the healing power of yoga with others.

Amanda Ziegler
Amanda is also a native of Monterey and could swim before she could walk. Starting ballet at 2, gymnastics at 5 and synchronized swimming at 6 she has always been an athlete.  In 2000 Amanda trained for the Olympics in synchronized swimming but in 1998, broke her back in a snow boarding accident and was told she would never do competitive sports again. In 2001, she began studying Yoga and it changed her life. In 2003, Amanda became a certified Yoga teacher and in 2005, I became a certified Yoga Master and returned to her love of dance, starting with ballet classes, then moving on to modern dance and jazz classes.  In 2013, she completed her Mat and Reformer training and is currently working on my PMA certification.

Amanda studied anatomy and physiology intensely and have been privileged to work with people of all ages and disabilities. Her great gift is her love to help others and she has been blessed with life experiences that have taught her about body awareness and how to heal the body from the inside out.

Melania Wynn
Melania and her husband settled down on the Monterey Peninsula in 2005, started a family, and have made this beautiful area their home.

As a former competitive swimmer from age 7 to 21, Melania searched for ways to stay healthy after finishing her swimming career. She trained for and competed in sprint triathlons, running races (from 5K’s to the 2006 Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco), and tried different fitness programs that gyms offered. It wasn’t until 2009, when she took her first Zumba® class that she felt she could finally “ditch the workout” and “join the party” to stay healthy. She was so ecstatic about Zumba® Fitness and wanted to share that happiness that she became a Zumba® instructor in 2014.

Highlights:

AFAA Certified Primary Group Exercise Instructor
Licensed in Zumba®, Aqua Zumba®, Zumba® Kids and Zumba® Kids Jr.
1996 Graduate of Pepperdine University B.A. Sociology with Art Minor
