Featuring five distinctive DecoTurf courts, our playing surfaces are the same as those used at some of the world’s most prestigious events, including the U.S. Open, the Olympic Games and NCAA Championships. The boutique tennis shop carries select lines of equipment, apparel and shoes.
Our Tennis Club is home to a comprehensive program, which includes instructional, competitive and recreational opportunities, all geared for the whole family.
Youth instruction begins with the Nicklaus Club-Monterey Pee Wees (ages 2-5) and the official USTA QuickStartProgram (ages 10-under), which both introduce boys and girls to the game on “short courts” set up just for them. We also offer a complete series of lessons for juniors up through age 18.
Nicklaus Club - Monterey is proud of its passionate tennis heritage, which reflects the active lifestyle and casual elegance of the Club’s membership.
Tennis instructor Christy Patton-Taylor, is known for her teaching skills, availability for private lessons, as well as semi-private lessons (for two) and group lessons (4-8).

Joining the team at Pasadera Country Club in 2008, Christy Patton Taylor has an extensive background with premier Tennis Clubs, particularly in instruction, team coaching and retail operations. Christy competed collegiately in Santa Barbara and was introduced to teaching through the Municipal Underprivileged Children’s Program in Santa Barbara, where she has worked extensively with tennis leagues for women and juniors. She managed The Tennis Shop in Santa Barbara and in 1996 formed her own apparel sales agency, which handled sporting and lifestyle products throughout the West Coast. Her previous Club experience includes assignments at Birnam Wood, Ennisbrook and Knollwood Country Clubs in the Santa Barbara and Montecito areas. Christy has lived on the Monterey Peninsula for the past 14 years and continues to play in USTA tournaments, including national age-group championships.
